07/05/08 Connections is offering the following courses:

Final Cut Pro - practical workshops (beginners, intermediate and advanced level): this course is aimed at people wanting to get a first taster of FCP software and those with Final Cut Pro editing experience who want to learn the more advanced features and polish their skills.

Sony Z1 HDV Camera - camera setup, framing and shooting for editing, focus techniques, exposure, white balance, microphones and sound record.

Apple Imovie and IDVD - import, edit, author and burn movies to DVD.

Movie Magic - Budgeting and Scheduling: how to set up a budget, apply fringes and globals and schedule your film with the Movie Magic software.

10/04/08 Connections is awarded 4 year funding from the London Councils to support young poeple to produce videos on how to reduce youth offending. Delivery will begin in November 08 in Hammersmith and Ealing.

29/03/08 Connections celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. Guest speakers were Anna Home OBE, Clive Jones CBE and Andrew Slaughter MP. Prizes were awarded by the Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham Cllr Minnie Scott-Russell.

27/03/08 Film London funded youth led film festivals are a success. Sam Karr led four temas of young people to deliver four young people's film festivals in West London.

17/01/08 Connections youth forum.
Members of the Connections Young People´s Creative Forum filmed the launch of the Safer Neighbourhood Annual Challenge. Five more participants of Connections new entrant training programme have secured media related employment.

17/01/08 Five of the six short films being made by our 13-19 yr old students are now in post production!
The young people are now discussing how they will market and distribute their films. The films will premier at the Riverside Studios cinema at 6pm on the 17th March 2008.

17/01/08 Young Peoples Marketing Forums have started to take place.
Charlie Philips from Channel 4’s fourDocs will be sharing information on how to deliver films on Television on 16th January and Canary Wharf Film Festival Director Olivia Bellas will discuss Film Festival screening options with the young people on 30th January.

28/08/07 Ministerial visit On 28th August, Connections were proud to host Beverley Hughes MP(Minister for Young People, Children & Families), Andy Akinwolere (CBBC Blue Peter presenter) and Clive Jones (Chairman of Mediabox and YCTV), who came to see the Media Writes project in full-swing.

28/05/07 Young People Media Forum, Connections is launching it’s first Young People’s Media Forum, a committee of talented and committed young people from west London who are keen to have their say on the creative industries. Monthly meetings will provide a chance for discussion on training, media ownership, effective publicity, careers and opportunities for young people.

28/05/07 ILM Award, Connections is now an approved Institute of Leadership & Management training centre. Delivery on the Level 3 Award in Leadership is already taking place, and Connections is also able to deliver level 5. This approval is a great boost for Connections, and acknowledges the excellent provision of leadership, management and networking training that is taking place on the Innovation for Success programme. 14/05/07 Connections CEO, Jacqueline Davis, and former participant, Yenabi Mezghebe, spoke at a cross-party conference on media literacy at the House of Commons. Yenabi spoke enthusiastically about her time working with Connections on the Channel 4 ‘Breaking the News’ project. See Yenabi’s comments on the BBC website.
